The Red Booted Groomer: Grooming Policies 

Right to Refuse Service

The Red Booted Groomer reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service at any time if grooming poses a risk to the pet's safety or the well-being of our staff. This includes cases involving aggression, excessive stress, or health concerns that may be aggravated by grooming. Any grooming completed prior to discontinuation will be billed. Our priority is a safe, positive experience for all pets, and we will do our best to accommodate each pet’s unique needs.

Commitment to Animal Well-Being

We are dedicated to ensuring the health, comfort, and well-being of each pet. Every pet is evaluated based on age, health, temperament, and grooming history. Adjustments may be made to reduce stress or discomfort. If grooming poses a risk, we will discuss alternatives with the owner. In emergencies, we reserve the right to seek veterinary care at the owner’s expense.

Vaccination and Health Requirements

For the safety of all pets, proof of up-to-date Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, and Bordetella vaccinations is required at least 48 hours before the appointment. Failure to provide this proof will result in rescheduling.

Safety and Liability for Accidents

While every precaution is taken to prevent injuries, grooming involves sharp tools, and minor incidents (e.g., cuts, nicks, or nail quicking) may occur if a pet moves suddenly or has overgrown nails. To ensure a safe environment, owners must refrain from interacting with their pets during the session. If interference occurs, the session may be terminated, and the full fee will apply.

Aggressive or Stressed Pets

Owners must disclose any history of aggression or behavioral issues, including biting or fear of specific grooming procedures. We reserve the right to refuse or terminate grooming if a pet shows excessive stress or aggression. A handling fee may be added if special measures (e.g., muzzling) are required. If a pet causes injury, the owner may be held responsible for medical costs, lost income, and equipment damage.

Health and Medical Conditions

Grooming can be stressful for elderly or medically compromised pets, potentially revealing or worsening existing conditions. Comfort is our priority, particularly for senior and special-needs pets, and grooming may focus on cleanliness rather than appearance. In emergencies, we will contact the owner; if unavailable, we may seek veterinary care at the owner's expense.

Matting and Coat Condition

Severe matting can cause discomfort and skin damage. Removing mats may require shaving, which could result in minor cuts or abrasions. Post-grooming effects may include redness, itchiness, or self-inflicted irritation. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn. Regular grooming is recommended to prevent matting. An additional fee will apply for mat removal.

First-Time Grooming & Puppies

First grooming sessions may require extra patience. We encourage owners to prepare pets by regularly brushing their coats and handling their paws to reduce stress and ensure a positive experience.

Cancellation Policy

  • More than 24 Hours’ Notice: No fee.

  • 24 Hours or Less: $25 cancellation fee to cover the reserved time slot.

Late Fees

  • Appointment Late Fees: 15 minutes late – $20; Each additional minute – $1 per minute.

  • Late Pickup Fees: 10 minutes late after notification without confirming an extension – $1 per minute.

Satisfaction Guarantee

If you have concerns about the grooming, please inform us at pick-up so we can make adjustments. Grooming styles vary, and preferences can be noted for future visits. Once the pet leaves, additional changes will be treated as a new appointment with applicable fees.

Hold Harmless Agreement

By signing this consent, you agree to hold The Red Booted Groomer, its owners, staff, and operators harmless from any liability, damage, or claims related to your pet’s condition, known or unknown. This agreement may be updated at any time and supersedes previous agreements.

Photography Consent

You authorize The Red Booted Groomer to photograph your pet for records, marketing, and social media. These photos are the exclusive property of The Red Booted Groomer and may be used for promotional purposes.

Payment and Pricing

Payment is due at pick-up. We accept Cash, Venmo, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover.Prices may vary based on breed, coat condition, temperament, and special requests. A base price list is available upon request.
